The Charles A. Dana Category I Lecture Series presents "Discovering David Jones: On the Appeal of Sacramental Syncretism" by Dr. Timothy Parker, Associate Professor, Norwich University.

About the Lecture

In my experience, many joys of research and intellectual life come from pursuits rooted less in clear objectives than in simple wonder. My fascination with the work of British soldier, artist, and poet David Jones (1895–1974) has been like this. It began with an oblique encounter with his poetry decades ago, which somehow got under my skin and stayed put. A recent opportunity to explore this interest further amidst a welcoming community of Jones scholars was a real gift. I reflect on how an unwieldy journey has come to clarify my personal and professional commitments.
