Melissa Hango
I got to learn about topics that I wouldn't have typically experienced in my other classes, such as the course on Introduction to Sustainability, and it was through the Honors Program that I found my passion for research.
I wanted to join the Honors Program because I wanted to push myself beyond the limits of what I was comfortable with. I wanted to meet people from other majors, and it ended up being extremely rewarding in that sense. I got to learn about topics that I wouldn't have typically experienced in my other classes, such as the course on Introduction to Sustainability, and it was through the Honors Program that I found my passion for research. I even ended up collaborating with Darlene Olsen on my Honors' Thesis and major capstone projects in my senior year, and I never would have guessed that I would be working with a faculty member in the field of mathematics and doing a project on statistics as a healthcare major.
