Dr. Mirza Foisal Ahmed serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of David Crawford School of Engineering. He is skilled in mechanical testing, microstructural analysis, and CAD/CAM software tools. He has research experience in nanocomposites, low fatigue cycle of light-weight alloys, and similar and dissimilar ultrasonic spot welding. Dr. Ahmed teaches a variety of engineering courses, including statics, mechanics, materials science, manufacturing, and machine design. 

He recently developed a new course “Cyber Informed Engineering (CIE)” for Norwich University. Dr. Ahmed's research interests include fatigue life enhancement, thermo-mechanical fatigue, lightweight materials, nanomaterials, natural fiber composites, and computational materials science. Dr. Ahmed has published twenty-one peer reviewed international journal articles and 20 conference papers and has 766 citations on Google Scholar. His work includes a book chapter and an invited review paper.
