The Upper Parade Ground, or UP, is center stage for Corps of Cadets physical training, drilling and marching. Ceremonies are also held here. Please use walkways and do not step on the grass.

Nationally recognized guest carillonneurs will fill the Northfield sky with music ranging from classical favorites and patriotic selections to popular melodies and contemporary arrangements. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an afternoon of music on the beautiful campus of Norwich University.

People walk past a brick building with white columns and a clock tower framed by autumn trees.

The Adams Carillon Tower stands as one of Norwich University’s most cherished landmarks. Constructed in 1956, the tower was a gift from Dr. Porter Adams, Norwich University’s sixteenth president, in memory of his mother. Originally housing 36 bells, the instrument was expanded in 1959 with the addition of 11 bells, creating the current 47-bell carillon. The bells themselves possess a remarkable history, having first been exhibited by the Belgian government at the Chicago World’s Fair before being donated by the Greene family in memory of their mother.
