About

Ali Al Bataineh serves as the Director of the Artificial Intelligence Center at Norwich University, leading research and outreach programs focused on the diverse aspects of AI and its real-world applications. In addition to his role at the AI Center, Ali is also a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, where he teaches interdisciplinary courses covering electrical and computer engineering, computer science, and artificial intelligence. He completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toledo, Ohio, in 2021, focusing on computational models inspired by the adaptive immune system for solving optimization problems.
 

Research Interests and Expertise

Ali Al Bataineh conducts research in artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications in hardware security, cybersecurity and humanitarian disaster response. He works on AI-driven optimization techniques, natural language processing, and AI applications in military and health sectors. His research journey began as an undergraduate, focusing on AI for language translation. He collaborates with colleagues at Norwich and beyond, including École Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr (France), Helmut Schmidt University (Germany), and OCHIN (USA), among others. Additionally, he is currently involved in AI-driven solutions for hardware security, including Trojan detection in FPGA and ASIC designs. He is also involved in setting up a Military AI Virtual Data Center with Helmut Schmidt University (Germany) to support AI research for defense applications.
