Interdisciplinary Engineering

Norwich was founded on the idea that people learn better by doing, and our students who pursue an engineering degree never shy away from getting their hands dirty.

About the Program

Interdisciplinary Engineering at Norwich lets you design the degree the future hasn’t imagined yet.

A distinctive and flexible program designed to align with your individual passions, life ambitions, and career goals. Unlike traditional paths, this program provides a strong foundation in core engineering principles while offering the freedom to explore coursework beyond the boundaries of engineering. Whether you're aiming to transition into another engineering discipline not offered at Norwich or wish to blend engineering with other fields of study, this program empowers you to build a truly customized academic experience. Students can tailor their education to include areas such as biology, physics, environmental science, design, or even criminal justice — opening doors to a wide range of innovative and emerging fields.

In the lab and in the field you’ll tackle grand challenges: boosting the efficiency of solar arrays, fine-tuning NASA mini-satellites, even joining research expeditions to Antarctica Norwich University. Along the way students will complete internships and co-ops that turn their ideas into impact — and graduate with an ABET-accredited degree respected by employers and grad schools worldwide.
