Coach Cam Clarke brings energy, expertise, and a proven record of success.

Clarke was a standout golfer in high school, with top finishes in conference and state tournament appearances. He has continued competing in club and local events, maintaining his passion for the game and staying sharp on the course.

Coach Highlights

  • Guided Norwich golf to a runner-up finish at the 2023 GNAC Championships in his first season as head coach.
  • Mentored two standout first-year players: Cooper Bertrand ’27 (GNAC Co-Rookie of the Year, First & Second Team All-Conference) and Harrison Giambattista ’27 (Second Team All-Conference).

His background also includes an impressive hockey career. After starring in the NAHL with the Lone Star Brahmas, where he was named Defenseman of the Year, he was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the fifth round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft (#136). He went on to play Division I hockey at Ferris State University and later spent three professional seasons in the ECHL. Clarke also serves as an assistant coach for the Norwich men’s hockey team, contributing to both the development of players and the team’s competitive edge.

What brought you to becoming a coach for your sport?

After completing my professional hockey career, I wanted to remain around the sport that greatly impacted my life.

What excites you about this sport?

The ability to be a part of something greater than any individual, being a part of a team. Hockey requires mental and physical toughness that challenges athletes like no other sport.

Golf is a sport that requires athletes to be mentally strong to be successful. The constant challenges that the sport provides teaches many life lessons that can be applied in all aspects of our lives.

What do you enjoy about working with student-athletes?

I love being able to impact the lives of these student-athletes and creating a positive experience for them to look back on once they leave our program.

What do you like about coaching at Norwich?

I love coaching at Norwich because of the close community that Norwich provides for its students and employees.

Why is Norwich a great place for student-athletes?

Norwich is a great place for students because of the unique college experience it provides. The student life here at Norwich brings students closer together and makes a great environment for them to set themselves up for their future.

What is your approach to coaching?

My approach to coaching is to develop personal relationships with my players. Creating a relationship where there is trust between player and coach leads to a team culture that athletes can thrive in.

Norwich wants student-athletes to have the best experience in their athletics programs. Norwich provides its students with the resources to have a great athletic and academic balance that leads to proud alumni in the future.
