About
Carolina Payares-Asprino, Ph.D., guides undergraduate student research in the robotic welding design process. At Universidad Simón Bolívar, Caracas, Venezuela, she completed a Bachelor of Science in materials engineering focused on manufacturing, followed by a Master of Science in finance engineering. She continued with a Ph.D. in materials science and mechanical engineering from the University of Wales Swansea, U.K.
She taught in Venezuela for more than 24 years, achieving full professorship, and has taught in the United States for 10 years. She has held visiting professorships at the University of Wales Swansea (1998), the Colorado School of Mines Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2005), and the Department of Mechanical Engineering (2008-09), followed by a research associate professorship at Mines from 2011 to 2014. Throughout her career, she has worked in welding and manufacturing engineering.
Payares-Asprino joined the faculty at Norwich University in 2017 as a visiting professor and became a full-time faculty member in July 2018.
