Col Scott Conway

Colonel Scott E. Conway is a Marine Corps Logistics Officer from Baltimore, MD, and graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Class of 1993. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, and was commissioned in May, 1993. Following Spanish language training in 2013, he attended the Inter-American Defense College where he simultaneously earned a Master of Science in Inter-American Defense and Security and a Master of Defense and Security Studies of the Americas (with Distinction) from La Academia Nacional de Estudios Políticos y Estratégicos (ANEPE) of Chile.

Upon graduation, he was assigned as a Military Faculty Advisor for the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in 2014, where he was selected for promotion to Colonel. In 2015, he transferred to Marine Corps Installations-Pacific to serve as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-7, Government and External Affairs. He commanded Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations-East from 2017 to 2019. After a successful command tour, he was assigned as the 2D Marine Logistics Group Operations Officer. There, he was selected to take command of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps unit at Norwich University.

Colonel Conway’s first operational assignment was with 1st Landing Support Battalion in Camp Pendleton, California from 1994 to 1997. During this tour, he served as a Landing Support Platoon Commander, Battalion Logistics Officer, and as a Company Commander. He was reassigned to Officer Candidates School from 1997 to 2001, and served as the Battalion Logistics Officer, Assistant Operations Officer, Platoon Commander, and Company Executive Officer. In 2000, he deployed to the Western Sahara as a United Nations Military Observer. After a brief period in the Individual Ready Reserve, Colonel Conway returned to active duty after September 11th, 2001 as the Training Officer for Security Battalion, Marine Corps Base Quantico.

In 2002, he received orders to I Marine Expeditionary Force G-4, where he deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM as the Combined Joint Task Force-180 Logistics Plans Officer in Bagram, Afghanistan. Upon return, he directed the Support Branch for the 1st Special Operations Training Group. In 2004, he deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM as the I Marine Expeditionary Force Logistics Current Operations Officer supporting the battles of Najaf and Fallujah.

In 2005, Colonel Conway transferred to Marine Aircraft Group-31 in Beaufort, South Carolina, where he served as the Group Logistics Officer. While assigned to the command, he deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM with the Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan. Following this assignment, Colonel Conway was selected to attend Marine Corps Command and Staff College, where he earned his Master of Military Studies Degree in 2008.

Subsequently, he transferred to the United States Special Operations Command as the Logistics Operations and Plans Division Chief. During this assignment, he deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM/NEW DAWN as the Joint Forces Special Operations Component Command-Iraq Director of Support.

In 2010, Colonel Conway assumed command of Marine Wing Support Squadron 274 in Cherry Point, North Carolina. Concurrently, he commanded a Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF) in support of SOUTHERN PARTNERSHIP STATION 2012 (AMPHIBIOUS). His SPMAGTF supported Counter Drug/Counter Narco-Terrorism efforts in Panama, Colombia, Guatemala, and Honduras.

His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit with gold star, the Bronze Star Medal with two gold stars, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars.
