About

Jack Patterson earned his doctorate from The School of the Built Environment at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland, and is the former owner of a South Carolina construction company.

He spent more than 17 years working on commercial and residential construction projects. Starting with commercial construction projects, he later co-owned a company that built light commercial and custom residential structures.

In the classroom, Prof. Patterson draws upon his diverse construction experience to teach practical, real-world construction management skills to students. Leading a variety construction management courses and labs, he helps majors build a solid construction knowledge base and sharpen their ability to solve associated construction problems.

He holds a master’s degree in construction science and management from Clemson University and an undergraduate degree in industrial education. Prof. Patterson’s teaching experience spans 23 years in university and technical college settings, where he has also served as a department head.
