About
Lieutenant Matthew B. Gibson was assigned as the Aviation Officer at Norwich University in February 2023. He teaches Introduction to Naval Science and Naval History and works with MIDN interested in the Aviation community to educate them and help them pursue Aviation opportunities through their selected Branch of Service.
Lieutenant Gibson was born in Dothan, Alabama and relocated to Birmingham. He attended the University of Alabama where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology in December 2016.
Lieutenant Gibson earned his commission from Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island on August 25th, 2017 as a Student Naval Flight Officer. LT Gibson reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola and earned his Wings of Gold March 31st, 2019. LT Gibson selected the P-8A Poseidon and reported to Jacksonville, FL. Following the completion of the Fleet Replacement Squadron, LT Gibson reported to Patrol Squadron FOUR in Whidbey Island. LT Gibson served as the Tactical Coordinator for Combat Aircrew 3. LT Gibson completed 3 deployments across 5th and 6th Fleet Areas of Responsibility.
