Michael S. Puddicombe has a joint appointment in the School of Business and Management and the David Crawford School of Engineering.

Earlier in his career, he spent 20 years working in all aspects of the architecture, engineering and construction fields before returning to academia and earning his doctorate from Boston University in 1998. His research has focused on developing a strategic theory of construction management based in emerging areas of information technology, contracts, and operational processes. He also engages in research in the area of sustainability and affordability in the built environment. He has presented his research at engineering, construction and business conferences and published in journals worldwide. He developed the core curriculum for the Bachelor of Science in construction management and the online master’s degree in civil engineering in construction management. He has served as the associate and interim dean of the School of Business and Management, faculty director of the online Master of Business Administration program, head of the construction engineering management program, director of the Center for the Integrated Study of the Built Environment, and co-chair of the Academic Sub Forum of the BIMForum.
