About

Colonel (Ret) William Lyons is a 1990 graduate of Norwich with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. After a successful career in industry and government, including 31 years in the Army Reserve, he has returned to Norwich to contribute to the development of future leaders. He applies his diverse background of experience to support a muti-disciplinary learning environment.

Research Interests and Expertise

William Lyons conducts research in transportation safety and equity, transportation technology (shared electric autonomous mobility), micromobility, environmental security, climate induced transboundary migration and violence, and information warfare. His research journey began when he started writing technical articles for trade magazines in the 1990s. The passion became stronger, so he undertook graduate education, with three master's degrees and a juris doctor- with more research coming with each program. They actively mentor students, advising that students find a topic they are passionate about, find a mentor who shares their passion, and follow your heart to create new knowledge. They collaborate with colleagues at Norwich and beyond, including the University of Cambridge, the Land Forces University of Poland, and from industry.
