Norwich University announces recent grants awarded to six Norwich faculty members by the Vermont Biomedical Research Network (VBRN)

The Vermont Biomedical Research Network

Dr. Tara Kulkarni, Chief Research Officer for Norwich University, announced recent grants awarded to six Norwich faculty members. The Vermont Biomedical Research Network (VBRN) awarded the combined $260,000 to the Norwich faculty through various grants. In fact, half of the VRBN grants for this year have been awarded to Norwich University faculty and students.

The grants were awarded to the following:

  • Kylie Blodgett – College of Arts & Sciences, Health and Human Performance
  • Jeffrey Kirkland – College of Arts & Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry 
  • Min Li – School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Criminology and Criminal Justice
  • Allison Neal – College of Arts & Sciences, Biology 
  • Page Spiess – College of Graduate and Continuing Studies, Public Health
  • Emma Ste. Marie – College of Arts & Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry 

The six faculty members were among those acknowledged and honored during the annual Celebration of Excellence ceremony.

The VBRN Mission Statement is as follows:

The mission of VBRN is to build a culture to promote biomedical research infrastructure in Vermont. Our focus is on human health and behavior as broadly defined. The goal is to build and sustain a culture of research throughout the state by facilitating the research capacity of faculty members, and the education of undergraduates, at our baccalaureate partner institutions. 

Norwich is among the six baccalaureate partner institutions throughout the state of Vermont. The other institutions are Middlebury College, Vermont State University (Castleton), Vermont State University (Lyndon), Vermont State University (Johnson), and Saint Michael’s College. In total, VBRN works with 10 different higher education institutions across the state to help build human and physical infrastructure in Vermont for biomedical research.
