Since earning her degree from Norwich, Coach Annis has skillfully continued to combine athletics with academia. Over the past decade, she has served in various pivotal roles to build and expand rugby.
- Holds a Master of Science in Therapeutic Recreation from SUNY Cortland, with a strong foundation in athlete wellness and development.
- Certified by the National Council on Strength & Fitness and USA Rugby (Level 200 Coaching Certification).
- Serves as a Team USA Athlete Panelist since 2021, sharing insights and mentorship with emerging rugby players nationwide.

- One of the most decorated athletes in Norwich women’s rugby history, with a program record of 100-9 during her playing career.
- Led the team through a historic 40-0 undefeated season in both 15s and 7s in 2013–14.

- Represented the USA Rugby National Team from 2012–17, including selection to the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup roster.
Q&A with Coach Annis
What brought you to becoming a coach for your sport?
After a long career playing professionally and for the national team, I transitioned into coaching to keep myself connected to the sport and community I love. The opportunities in rugby, especially women's rugby, are growing massively and the role of head coach at my alma mater was too good to pass up.
What excites you about this sport?
Rugby is a high energy sport for fans and athletes alike. Women's rugby is a sport on the rise and with Norwich Rugby's success-laden history, I can't wait to see what opportunities the future holds.
What do you enjoy about working with student-athletes?
Student-athletes have something to prove and are determined to leave a mark on their world. It's an honor to be there to see them shine on and off the field as their physical and characters grow.
What do you like about coaching at Norwich?
I love the energy and investment Norwich puts into athletics. The alumni support and administration advocacy make Norwich a great place to compete.

What is your approach to coaching?
We are always striving to be a great team comprised of truly good-hearted people. Through hard work, creativity, and joy, we are a team striving to be the best version of ourselves. This means taking accountability for ourselves, building up our teammates, and being committed members of our greater rugby and Norwich communities. As a coach, I aim to provide all the resources and structure of player transformation over their time at Norwich and am honored to be part of the process.
What is Norwich’s approach to athletics, training, and being on a team?
Norwich student athletes are committed above all else to overcoming personal, professional, and physical obstacles. To do this it takes a network of teammates and community members across the campus. No one can succeed here alone, and Norwich teaches how to utilize all the resources available to strive.
