About

Lindsey Pett, Ph.D., received her bachelors in fisheries and wildlife science from Paul Smith’s College, a master’s in natural resources from State University of New York at Plattsburgh, and a doctorate in biology from the University of Vermont.

Her research involves modeling the response of ecosystems and trophic levels to nutrient deposition using the model system Sarracenia purpurea (Northern Pitcher Plant). She also researches aquatic ecology, such as the community structure of plants, invertebrates, and plankton and investigates the natural history of larval midges. She collaborates in long term monitoring of Exyra fax (Pitcher Mining Moth) herbivory in Vermont bogs. Lindsey often mentors undergraduate students in research, of which topics have ranged from monitoring white nose syndrome in Vermont bats, invertebrate diversity in artificial tree cavities in managed and unmanaged forests, and surveying riparian vegetation in human degraded and reference areas of Vermont rivers.
