The Vermont Transfer Guarantee Program

Norwich University and the Vermont Transfer Guarantee Program

What is the Vermont Transfer Guarantee?

Norwich University and the Vermont Transfer Guarantee Program

The Vermont Transfer Guarantee ensures that qualified students from the Community College of Vermont (CCV) are guaranteed acceptance to Norwich University.  It further guarantees that all credits earned toward graduating with an associate degree will apply toward a Norwich degree as a credit block and students in the program will enter as third-year students.

Who qualifies for the Vermont Transfer Guarantee?

To be eligible, a student must hold an associate degree from CCV prior to entry and have met a minimum GPA of 2.0 during that course of study.

This does not apply to students applying for the Nursing program.  Nursing applicants have separate admissions criteria.

The Vermont Guarantee is a transfer partnership between Vermont community colleges and participating four-year colleges and universities. Eligible community college graduates are able to transfer seamlessly - admission guaranteed!

Scholarships:

Students who transfer to Norwich via the Vermont Transfer Guarantee will be offered academic scholarships upon acceptance, ranging from $23,000 to $30,000. Academic scholarships are renewable each year a student attends Norwich, as long as the student maintains satisfactory academic progress and is enrolled as a full-time student. Additionally, student may apply for need-based aid by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submitting it to Norwich. We encourage students to file the FAFSA as soon as it opens, to ensure they have access to the most amount of aid. After the full financial aid package has been created, our enrollment advisors are here to help! You can schedule one-on-one consultations to discuss your aid package and next steps to enrollment. For more information about aid opportunities, please visit our tuition, costs & affordability page.

Application Process:

  • Step 1: Apply to Norwich, using either the Common Application or the Norwich application.

  • Step 2: Submit your college transcripts.

That’s it! There is no fee to apply, and no essay or letter of recommendations required. Our goal is to make the transition to Norwich as smooth as possible.

Transfer Credit Policies:

Norwich will accept the CCV general education block as a whole, thereby waiving the general education requirements. If the general education block contains a course with a letter grade lower than a C-, but the student meets the GPA requirements, the block will still be accepted as complete.

Community college students frequently take courses and receive credit from multiple institutions or through credit for prior learning including, but not limited to Advanced Placement (AP) exams, International Baccalaureate Program (IB), dual enrollment, national standardized exams such as the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), challenge examinations, Joint Service Transcript analysis for veterans or current members of the military, or online coursework.

The determination to award credit from other institutions or for credit for prior learning is made through a transfer audit and a graduation audit carried out at the community college. These audits serve to ensure that all associate degree earners have fully met degree requirements at the community college. While all relevant documentation in the form of score reports and transcripts will be forwarded to Norwich, we agree to honor the community college graduation audit for credit issued.
