About

Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Amy Youmell brings a diverse coaching background that spans NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and high school athletics.

Her approach emphasizes relationship-building, athlete development, physical conditioning, and the creation of positive team cultures. Youmell seeks student-athletes who are motivated to challenge themselves, support their teammates, and represent Norwich University with pride on and off the court.

She also brings extensive volleyball education and development experience, holding USA Volleyball CAP I and CAP II certifications.

Developing Competitors, Students, and Leaders

Youmell began her collegiate coaching career at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where she served as an assistant coach during the Beacons’ 2021 Little East Conference championship season.

UMass Boston captured its 10th conference championship and earned an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Youmell contributed to the program through practice planning, opponent scouting, player development, and the direction of physical conditioning programs.

She later earned her first collegiate head coaching opportunity at Assumption University, overseeing all aspects of the Greyhounds’ NCAA Division II program during the 2022 season.

Youmell continued her coaching career at Greenfield High School, where she served as both head women’s volleyball coach and head track and field coach. Her work in both sports further shaped her commitment to comprehensive athlete development and successful team cultures.

Assistant coach for the 2021 Little East Conference champion UMass Boston program.
Helped UMass Boston secure an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Served as an NCAA Division II head coach at Assumption University.
Served as the head women’s volleyball coach at Greenfield High School.

Coaching Approach

Youmell believes successful programs are built through strong relationships, clear expectations, and an environment in which student-athletes are both supported and challenged. Her vision for Norwich Women’s Volleyball includes expanding the program’s roster, strengthening its competitive success, and helping each student-athlete grow in multiple areas of college life.

“Together, we will work to create a positive and challenging environment where our team can continue to develop and proudly represent Norwich University on and off the court,” Youmell said.
