About

Dr. Hong Qian is a Visiting Associate Professor of Chinese in the Department of Global Humanities. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Macau. She is an alumna of Johns Hopkins University, Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies, and a founding member of the Federations of Translators and Interpreters of Macau.  She researched the multimodality of translating public notices at the University of Vienna, supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Science and Research.

At Norwich University, Qian teaches Chinese language and interdisciplinary Chinese courses. Her main research interests include teaching pedagogy, critical discourse analysis, media translation, and multimodality and translation. Her papers were published in international refereed journals or presented at international conferences.
