Kathleen McDonald

Kathleen McDonald  has been a member of the English faculty at Norwich since 2005, and specializes in early American literature, crime literature, and film studies. Promoted to professor in 2020, she also serves as the University Assessment Coordinator. 

She earned her BA in theater from Rhode Island College, and an MA and PhD in English Studies from the University of Albany in New York. She has edited two collections: Henry James: In the 21st Century Classroom, currently in press with McFarland Publishing, and Americanization of History: Conflation of Time and Culture in Film and Television, a collection of scholarly essays published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing in 2011.

At Norwich, McDonald teaches courses spanning the entire spectrum of American Literature (17th century to the present), film courses, crime literature courses, literary methods, and the freshmen writing sequence. Her research explores the private writing of early American women; the intersection of history, film, and literature; American mystery/crime literature; and the pedagogy of academic work.
