Megan Cannella

Megan Cannella  teaches Composition & Literature, Public Speaking and Advanced Academic English in the Department of English and Communications at Norwich University. She also is the academic advisor for a group of international students on campus.  

Cannella studied Sociology and African Studies at St. Lawrence University before receiving her master's degree in teaching English as a Second Language from St. Michael's College. Studying abroad in Kenya as an undergraduate student piqued her interest in international education, travel and service. While abroad, Cannella worked at Kakuma Refugee Camp for the Lutheran World Federation, specifically with women and youth from Somalia, Ethiopia and Sudan. Upon coming to Vermont, she worked for two years as an AmeriCorps VISTA at the Fletcher Free Library in Burlington, Vermont where her job was to work with members of the refugee and immigrant population. She was the English Language Coordinator for Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program for 4.5 years where she taught students from across the globe. Cannella has also taught students at both Champlain and St. Michael's Colleges.  
 

At Norwich, Cannella loves to push students to write creative titles, thoughtfully revise their essays and to deliver passionate, heart-felt speeches. She lives with her husband and three daughters on a small farm in East Montpelier, Vermont where she loves to run, garden, ski and knit.
