Zach Seibold
- Assistant Professor
About
Zach Seibold is an Assistant Professor at the Norwich University School of Architecture + Art, where he teaches design studios and seminars focused on digital design and fabrication. Seibold’s research interests are situated at the intersection of fabrication, computational design, and material-focused design research. His work is guided by two core questions: How does architecture engage with the material aspects of our world? And how might technology — whether in the form of computation, material innovation, or fabrication method — facilitate new models for the design and realization of architecture?
Seibold’s research and design work showcase a strong focus on innovative materials and technologies, including additive manufacturing and robotic fabrication. He has published research in esteemed journals and received recognition for his contributions, including the SIGraDi Research Innovation Award and the Best Paper Award from the International Conference on Structures and Architecture.
Prior to his current position, Seibold held the role of Lecturer in Architecture at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Research Associate with the Material Processes + Systems Group, and Adjunct Professor at Wentworth Institute of Technology. He is a Co-Founder and Principal at VHS Office, where he continues to work on design projects, and has previously practiced with the offices of Höweler + Yoon and MOS.
