About

Doug enjoys teaching students of all majors about the history and evolution of radio and television broadcasting in the United States.  He has worked in technical and supervisory capacities at NBC affiliate WNNE-TV in White River Junction, Vermont, and as operations manager at WGME-TV in Portland, Maine, a CBS station. 

Smith previously taught broadcasting courses at a North Carolina Community College and, in 1999 joined the faculty of Norwich University where he teaches and manages all aspects of Norwich University radio station WNUB-FM, which began broadcasting in 1967. Doug is fascinated by how media, technology, and culture intersect with and affect one another. He continues to explore digital media production with his students by producing announcements, programs, and podcasts to broadcast and stream in the production studios at the campus radio station, WNUB-FM.
