About
Sergio Díaz-Luna is an Assistant Professor of Spanish at Norwich University. He previously taught at Franklin & Marshall College, the University of California, Davis, and the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. He has been a visiting scholar at the Universidad de Salamanca, Spain, the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico, the Centro de Altos Estudios Literarios y Sociales del Chaco, Argentina, Cornell University’s School of Criticism and Theory, and The New School’s Institute for Critical Social Inquiry in New York.
His areas of expertise include contemporary Southern Cone poetics and politics, literary criticism, and second language acquisition. His research on the Argentine critic and poet Saúl Yurkievich, was awarded the Premio Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española by the Royal Spanish Academy (2007), and as an educator, he has received the Recognition of Inspirational Teaching (2013), the Excellence in Teaching Award (2014), and the Outstanding First Year Student Advocate Award (2019).
With an academic background in Spanish literature, visual studies, cultural studies, and critical theory, Professor Díaz-Luna implements illustrated editions, infographics, transmedia storytelling, and game-based learning in all his classes conveying a transdisciplinary approach. At Norwich University, he leads its revitalized Spanish for the Professions track, and teaches the courses Spanish I and II, Advanced Spanish I and II, Spanish for Law Enforcement, Spanish for Media, and special topics courses.
When not teaching or researching, he is running and cycling the roads of central Vermont.
