About
Suzanne Pickett is a faculty member in civil engineering and construction management at Norwich University, where she teaches courses related to water resources, environmental engineering, construction, and civil infrastructure. A Norwich University alum from the civil engineering program, she is pleased to return to the University as a member of the faculty. She brings extensive professional experience in water and wastewater systems, site development, civil infrastructure, and construction management. Her career has included work in both the public and private sectors, with experience ranging from wastewater treatment and collection systems to municipal infrastructure, residential onsite wastewater systems, stormwater improvements, road reconstruction, and construction project management.
Professor Pickett is a licensed professional engineer in civil engineering in Vermont. Her professional experience includes managing projects from planning and design through permitting, bidding, construction, and closeout, as well as serving in field and construction oversight roles. She is particularly interested in the connection between engineering design and construction, and in helping students understand how technical decisions translate into real-world infrastructure projects.
Professor Pickett also has significant experience in higher education. Her teaching interests include water and wastewater treatment, environmental engineering, construction management, project planning and coordination, and construction supervision. She is interested in construction workforce development, particularly leadership and workplace practices that can help the industry attract and retain the next generation of construction professionals.
