EXCEPTIONAL STUDENTS
Train With a Powerful Purpose
To Defend Our Future

The NROTC curriculum is crafted to equip midshipmen with the skills and knowledge needed to overcome the challenges they’ll face as commissioned officers in the Navy or Marine Corps. Each semester midshipmen will engage in one Naval Science class covering essential topics for their success. These classes are open to all Norwich cadets, regardless of their commissioning goals.

For those seeking commissions, the journey includes participation in the Leadership Laboratory (Mil-lab) and physical training (PT) as part of the Naval Battalion. Mil-lab is a dedicated two-hour weekly session where students engage in focused Navy and Marine Corps training beyond the classroom.

Physical fitness is paramount for anyone aspiring to serve in the armed forces. Midshipmen gather twice a week for organized PT and are expected to take personal responsibility for maintaining peak physical condition.

For students who don’t secure scholarships before graduating high school, the Navy and Marine Corps offer additional opportunities, including highly competitive side load scholarships that cover up to three years of tuition. Selection for these scholarships is determined on a national level.
