Exercise Science

Learn the underlying science as to how exercise positively impacts the human body and become an expert educator who can teach others how to get or stay fit without causing injury.

About the Program

Exercise science provides majors with a fundamental background in human physiology and a solid foundation in the natural sciences. Students acquire scientific literacy related to the biological and exercise sciences. Majors demonstrate their competency through written and oral expression. Exercise science majors conduct laboratory research, learning hands-on experimental methodology, approach, design, and statistical analysis.

The goals of the exercise science major are to provide undergraduate students with a fundamental background in human physiology and an understanding of how exercise can impact the human body in a positive manner coupled with a solid foundation in the natural sciences. Majors become highly trained individuals who can educate others how to exercise appropriately without causing undue harm.

Exercise science majors acquire scientific literacy related to the biological and exercise sciences demonstrate their mastery through written and oral expression. Students in the program conduct laboratory research to learn hands-on experimental methodology, approach, design, and statistical analysis. The exercise science program equips students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to become gainfully employed upon graduation or secure a position at a graduate school in a related field.
