Information for Faculty
As part of our mission to create a culture of writing on campus, we are excited to support faculty and their courses in a variety of ways.
In-class Workshops
We offer in-class workshops to support student writing in your courses. Workshop topics range from a brief introduction to the Center for Writing, to the writing process, to APA, MLA, and Chicago style and citations. Or, we can bring writing coaches to your course for drop-in writing support. Please request workshops through our Workshop Request Form at least two weeks in advance (ideally) to give us adequate time to schedule and prepare. If you would like a workshop that is more tailored to your course, please email Director, Kathryn Warrender-Hill, at kwarrend@norwich.edu.
Requiring Student Appointments
If your course is writing intensive and you think students would benefit from visiting the Center for Writing as part of the writing process, consider requiring your students to visit us. However, please contact Director, Kathryn Warrender-Hill, prior to implementing required appointments in your course. We will want to meet and discuss your goals for requiring appointments and make sure they align with ours. We will also want to ensure that the timing of your deadlines do not interfere with other required appointments. Without careful planning, our schedule will not be able to adequately support all required appointments.
Please do not require appointments before receiving approval to do so.
Writing Assignment Support
We are happy to meet with faculty to discuss and workshop their writing assignments. Faculty should either email the Center for Writing, the director, or assistant director to schedule a meeting.
Faculty Writing Support
Faculty can also reach out to us to get support on their own writing projects. Please email the Center for Writing, the director or assistant director to schedule a meeting.
